Best Wishes To Recovering Players

Sun, 16/04/2017 - 18:00

On behalf of everyone at the club, www.glentoran.com offers every best wish to three of our first team players currently recovering from recently sustained serious injuries.

Tiernan McAuley and Aaron Harmon have each sustained suspected cruciate ligament damage in the past week, an injury that has been all too common at the Oval recently following similar injuries to Stephen McAlorum and Willie Garrett.

Dungannon Swifts 2-1 Glentoran

Sun, 16/04/2017 - 15:52

Following the disappointment of last week's result at Ballinamallard, the travelling faithful once again made the journey west on the M1 in the optimistic hope of not only remaining in contention for 7th place and a European play off spot, but also to see a marked improvement in passion and performance.

Club captain Stephen McAlorum and the returning Eric Foley started in the centre of midfield, with Jonny Addis filling the centre back position and allowing James Ferrin to replace the injured Tiarnan McAuley at right back.

Dungannon Swifts v Glentoran

Saturday 15th April, 3pm

On Saturday afternoon, we travel to Stangmore Park for what is the absolute definition of a must win match.

Swifts are currently one point and 2 places above us in the chase for the final place in the Europa League play offs next month. As Swifts have a substantially better goal difference than Glentoran then it’s fair to say that nothing but an away win will be of any real benefit to the Glens.

Linfield Ladies 3 v 1 Glentoran

Thu, 13/04/2017 - 00:13

Wednesday 12th April saw Glentoran travel away to face Linfield at the Hammer Complex. The game started off very competitively between the two rivals with both teams keen to make the best first impression. Glentoran was first to take charge with Rachel Rogan netting an early goal on the 7th minute despite Linfield’s keeper’s best efforts. Glentoran looked comfortable on the ball with Katie Martin and Samantha Kelly slipping balls out wide and through to the striker to put the Glens on the front foot.

Ballinamallard United v Glentoran

Saturday 8th April, 3pm.

On Saturday afternoon, we travel to Ferney Park in our first post split match.

This will be the fourth time we have played the Mallards this season. Even in the context of the past two seasons our record against United has been particularly poor as we have not won any of the past four meetings!
