George Wilson Cup

Tue, 25/04/2017 - 22:22

The Glentoran Under 20 team join this season's George Wilson Cup on Tuesday 2nd May when Annagh United visit the Oval in the second round. Kick Off is at 7.45pm.

With 11 wins, Glentoran has won this trophy more times than any other club. The most recent victory was in a  5-3 Final win over Ballinamallard United in 2014.

All Glentoran supporters are welcome to cheer on the young lads as they go all out to avenge the first team's ignominious defeat at Annagh in the League Cup back in August.

Glentoran 3-0 Portadown

Sat, 22/04/2017 - 21:37

Glentoran's penultimate fixture in what has been a dismal 2016/17 Danske Bank Premiership campaign saw already relegated Portadown make the trip to east Belfast. Two big clubs who in years gone by would have been contesting at the very top of the table, now sitting 9th and 12th in the league. Glentoran kicked things off on the front foot, and after Eric Foley (3') and Salou Jallow (13') saw long range efforts sail harmlessly over the bar, they took the lead on 18 minutes.

For our penultimate home game of the season, we welcome Portadown to the Oval on saturday.

We are undefeated against the newly relegated Ports this season. In our third game of the season we had a 1- 0 win at Shamrock Park through a solo goal by Kym Nelson, while in November we played out a very drab goalless draw at the Oval.

Our most recent clash - at Shamrock Park in our first game of 2017 - was something of a false dawn for Glens supporters as we had a comfortable 0 - 5 away win through goals from Curtis Allen (2), Nacho Novo, Chris Lavery and Jonathan Smith.

Carrick Rangers 1-2 Glentoran

Tue, 18/04/2017 - 23:30

Glentoran came from a goal down to win at Carrick Rangers on Tuesday night. A second half double from Jonathan Smith and Curtis Allen was enough to overcome TJ Murray’s opener and give the Glens 3 points. Manager Gary Haveron made 4 changes to the side which lost in disappointing fashion on Saturday with Karl Hamill, Salou Jallow, Jonathan Smith and Chris Lavery replacing James Ferrin, Ross Redman, Conal Delaney and Stephen O’Flynn.
