Glens supporters raise funds in memory of Lydia Ross

Glentoran Chairman Colin Jess was proud to present a cheque for £1,069.90 to Air Ambulance NI at last Saturday’s home fixture against Ballymena United.

The donation was raised by Glentoran supporters at this summer’s friendly match against Chester and handed over in the company of Paul Ross, father of Ballymena United supporter Lydia Ross, who tragically lost her life in a car accident in 2023.

Since Lydia’s passing, Paul has raised more than £38,000 for Air Ambulance NI, ensuring his daughter’s memory continues to make a lasting difference.

His dedication has been remarkable, often seen outside football grounds across the country selling sky blue ribbon badges in her honour.

Colin Jess, Chairman of Glentoran, said: “We’re incredibly proud to support Paul and Air Ambulance NI through this donation, and I want to sincerely thank the supporters of both Glentoran and Chester for their generosity. Lydia’s story has touched the hearts of so many people across the football community and it’s inspiring to see how her memory continues to bring people together and make a real difference.
