Glentoran kicked off their pre-season fixtures with a 2-1 defeat to Caernarfon Town at the BetMcLean Oval on Saturday evening.

The Cymru Premier side broke the deadlock on 16 minutes through Clarke before Jordan Jenkins levelled matters nine minutes into the second half.

Declan Divine rang the changes for the last half an hour with the visitors snatching a late winner from Piggot with four minutes to go.

The hosts started well with James Singleton and Josh Daniels both firing efforts over inside the first 10 minutes.

It was Caernarfon though who broke the deadlock on 16 minutes as Clarke found the back of the net.

The Glens were denied an equaliser on 31 minutes after a great bit of skill by Jenkins on the wing saw him pick out Daniels, who in turn teed up Pat Hoban five yards out from goal, but his effort was blocked on the line by a defender.

Jack Malone fired an effort over the bar four minutes into the second after more good work by Jenkins out wide.

And it was the forward who drew the sides level on 54 minutes before all but Daniel Larmour and Andrew Mills were replaced by Divine.

One of the subs, Ben Gallagher was denied by the visiting keeper after being put through on goal on 65 minutes.

Five minutes later the Caernarfon stopper pushed another Gallagher shot onto the post.

That was to prove vital as Piggot grabbed the winner for the visitors with four minutes to go.
