Glens join #MoreThanFootball campaign

Tue, 23/03/2021 - 17:07

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to have been invited to join the #MoreThanFootball campaign, in association with the European Football for Development Network (EFDN) from now until its conclusion on 18th April.

We have enthusiastically joined #MoreThanFootball as Glentoran a club that represents so much more than simply football within East Belfast and far beyond. Glentoran is a family and a community, as we have demonstrated strongly throughout the past 12 turbulent and difficult months.

The campaign organisers have launched the campaign with the following statement:

'Football has always been much more than just a game. Unfortunately, people rarely see the stories of the excellent daily work being done through football organisations’ community and social development initiatives.'

Over the next two weeks we will support the #MoreThanFootball campaign by highlighting the great work of our Glentoran Men & Women’s team, staff, and volunteers as we work together to support our local East Belfast community in this time of difficulty for everyone, irrespective of age or background.

Glentoran will be taking part in three of the eight themed Action Week events:

  • Partnership
  • Social Inclusion
  • Health & Wellbeing

More information will follow on all three events.

The graphic below demonstrates that through membership of EFDN and participation in #MoreThanFootball Glentoran operates on the same stage as some of the biggest football clubs in Europe, including Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid. Our good friends at Nijmigen and Burnley are also participating.
