Glentoran Women produced a dominant display at the Blanchflower Stadium on Friday night as they secured an emphatic 5-0 victory over Larne Women in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership.

The Glens controlled proceedings from the opening stages and took the lead after just seven minutes when Mia Moore reacted quickest inside the area to fire home following Aimee Kerr’s long throw.

Kim Turner’s side continued to dominate possession and territory throughout the first half, pinning Larne deep inside their own half and creating a number of chances.

Jess Foy delivered a dangerous ball into the area for Gracie Conway, whose header drifted over the crossbar, before Ashley McKinnon produced an important save at the other end to deny Larne on the counter attack.

The hosts doubled their advantage on 18 minutes when Sofie Keenan’s delivery caused problems inside the penalty area, allowing Moore to score her second goal of the evening from close range.

Moore almost completed her hat-trick moments later but saw her effort drift narrowly wide as Glentoran continued to apply pressure.

Keenan, Nadene Caldwell and Kelly Crompton all threatened during a sustained spell of pressure, while Larne were forced into several important defensive blocks inside their own penalty area.

After a lengthy stoppage late in the half following treatment for a Larne player, the Glens added a third goal in first-half stoppage time when Keenan’s dangerous ball into the area ended up in the net.

Glentoran continued where they left off after the restart and made it 4-0 just five minutes into the second half through an excellent long-range strike from Gracie Conway.

Faye Loughran then came close to adding another when her effort struck the post before being pushed behind by the Larne goalkeeper.

Turner’s side continued to control the game throughout the second half and added a fifth goal on 75 minutes when Kerr capped off an impressive display by finding the net from close range.

Kascie Weir, Kelly Bailie, Emma Gardner and Clodagh Maguire were all introduced from the bench as the Glens comfortably saw out another strong home performance.
