Glens hit Crusaders for four

Glentoran made light work of Crusaders this afternoon, with an emphatic 4-0 win over their city rivals at Seaview in the Sports Direct Premiership.
The win keeps Declan Devine’s side in second place in the table and in pole position to collect an automatic European spot with only two rounds of games remaining.
The Glens’ boss will be impressed not only by the team’s overall performance but also by the fact that four different goalscorers made it onto the scoresheet – Christie Pattisson, David Fisher, Jordan Jenkins, and Kodi Lyons-Foster all scoring on a superb afternoon for the East Belfast side.

Under some spring sunshine, it was the hosts who settled quicker. Harry Franklin’s header from a Jordan Forsythe cross was pushed away by keeper Daniel Gyollai with the game just minutes old.
The Hungarian stopper was then called into action again to gather Stewart Nixon’s shot after the forward was played through on goal by Franklin, before also denying Philip Lowry’s effort from the edge of the box – all before 12 minutes had been played.
However, come the half-hour mark, it was the Glens who took the game by the scruff of the neck and never looked back. Danny Amos’ free-kick was only half-cleared by Jimmy Callacher, falling to Pattison, who chested the ball down before firing into the top left-hand corner.
Just four minutes later, it was two. Pattison was heavily involved again, intercepting a sloppy back pass by Jonny Tuffey before finding Joe Thomson on the right-hand side of the box. Thomson then centred the ball across the penalty area for Fisher to tap home from close range for one of his easiest strikes of the season.

Half Time: Crusaders 0 – 2 Glentoran
If the first half was impressive, things went from strength to strength in the second.
After sustained pressure inside the Crues’ half, the visitors were rewarded with a third goal on 75 minutes.
Jenkins, a constant threat to the home defence, played a clever one-two with Fisher before unleashing a low strike into the middle of the net and past the outstretched Tuffey for his 16th goal of the campaign.
Just six minutes later, the game was put beyond doubt when a fourth was added.
Lyons-Foster headed home from a superb delivery by Danny Amos at the back post to ensure all three points were heading back to the Oval on a superb afternoon for the club.
Full-Time: Crusaders 0 – 4 Glentoran
