Glentoran supporters can take to the oche alongside club legends and first-team players at a charity darts challenge at Westbourne GSC on Saturday 3 October.
The event is the Club’s latest fundraiser for Players Against Dementia, following the pre-season friendly against Rosario YFC and the release of a limited-edition shirt inspired by Jimmy Cleary’s 1980s kit.
Doors open at 7.30pm, with the first match at 8pm. A £30 ticket includes a doubles match featuring a Glentoran legend and a first-team player. There will also be prizes to be won throughout the evening.
Glentoran legends: Jimmy Cleary, Barney Bowers, Andy Mathieson, Paul Leeman, Colin Nixon, Jason Hill, Darren Lockhart, Tim McCann, Elliott Morris, Darren Fitzgerald, Willie Garrett and Gary Smyth.
First-team players: Marcus Kane, Daniel Larmour, Cal Weatherup, Conor Mac, Josh Kelly, Jack Malone, Ross Clarke, Ethan Brown, Andrew Mills, Zeno Rossi, Billy Crellin and Casey Smyth.
Other former and current players will be there to support the event.
Ruth McCreery, Glentoran director and lead on the Club’s fundraising for Players Against Dementia, said: “I’m grateful to the former and current players taking part in the darts, and to the many others who are coming along to support the night. Having so many Glentoran people together makes it special.
“The response to the Rosario match and the charity shirt has shown how strongly our supporters feel about this cause. I’d encourage everyone to come out on Saturday, enjoy the evening and help us raise as much as we can for former footballers and families affected by dementia.”
All proceeds from the darts challenge will support Players Against Dementia. Event tickets, priced at £5 each, are available from the Glentoran Superstore or pay at the door.
Supporters who cannot attend can still help by purchasing ballot tickets. They cost £1 each, six for £5 or 15 for £10, and are available from the Glentoran Superstore. To purchase by email, contact superstore@glentoran.com.
