Glentoran continued their preparations for the new Sports Direct Premiership season with a 6-1 victory over Rosario YFC in Saturday’s charity friendly at the BetMcLean Oval.
Played in support of Players Against Dementia, the afternoon provided Declan Devine and his coaching staff with another valuable opportunity to build match fitness and give players important minutes ahead of the new campaign.
The Glens led 4-0 at the interval through goals from David Jenkins, Aaron McEneff, Paddy Duffy and Marcus Kane before Rosario reduced the deficit after the break.
McEneff added his second goal of the afternoon before substitute Ben Gallagher completed the scoring as a number of changes were made throughout the second half.
With another useful run-out under their belts, the Glens will now continue their preparations ahead of the opening weekend of the new Premiership season.
The match also helped raise valuable funds for Players Against Dementia, with supporters generously contributing to a bucket collection in aid of the charity’s work supporting former footballers and their families affected by dementia and other neurodegenerative conditions.
