Glens continue pre-season preparations with win at Wilgar Park

Glentoran continued their pre-season schedule with a 4–2 victory over Dundela in Tuesday night’s friendly fixture at Wilgar Park.

The match began with a minute’s silence in memory of former physio and lifelong supporter George Magill, respectfully observed by both teams and supporters.

After a bright start that saw Pat Hoban and Jordan Jenkins combine well, Dundela took the lead midway through the first half with a finish that squirmed under Andrew Mills in the Glens goal. Despite chances for Jenkins, Palmer, Amos, Wightman and Burt, the Glens went into the break trailing.

Callan Farley signs contract extension

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to confirm that talented young defender Callan Farley has signed a contract extension that will see him remain at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

A graduate of the Glentoran Academy and the Club’s Elite Scholarship Programme, the 19-year-old enjoyed a highly successful loan spell at Warrenpoint Town during the second half of the 2024/25 campaign.

Ryan Cooney completes move to Glentoran

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of former Crewe Alexandra right-back Ryan Cooney on a free transfer.

The 25-year-old defender arrives at the BetMcLean Oval on a two-year contract and is the club’s fifth new arrival of the summer transfer window.

The Manchester-born defender joins Liam Burt, Jordan Stewart, Pat Hoban and Daniel Larmour as the latest addition to a Glentoran squad being shaped by manager Declan Devine to challenge for silverware in the 2025/26 season.

Glentoran Football Club is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of our former physio and lifelong supporter, George Magill.

A widely respected figure across Irish League football, George served Glentoran with distinction for many years, most notably under managers Tommy Jackson, Roy Coyle and Scott Young.

He was a key part of the club’s backroom staff during some of our most successful periods, including the iconic 1987/88 double-winning season. He retired in 2015, bringing to a close decades of service to the Glens.

Glentoran turned on the style at the BetMcLean Oval, recording an emphatic 11-0 win over JRC Academy in their latest pre-season outing.

After a dominant but measured first-half display, goals from Danny Amos and new signing Daniel Larmour had the Glens 2-0 up at the break. Pat Hoban made his first appearance for the club and impressed with his link-up play alongside Nathaniel Ferris, though there was concern as Frankie Hvid was forced off with a knock before the interval.

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to confirm the signing of highly regarded centre-back Daniel Larmour from Crusaders for an undisclosed fee.

The 26-year-old defender has signed a three-year deal at the BetMcLean Oval, becoming Glentoran’s fourth signing of the summer ahead of the 2025/26 Sports Direct Premiership campaign.

Larmour’s arrival follows the high-profile additions of influential Scottish midfielder Liam Burt, returning academy graduate Jordan Stewart and prolific League of Ireland striker Pat Hoban.

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce the signing of prolific striker Pat Hoban from League of Ireland side Derry City for an undisclosed fee.

The 33-year-old forward, widely regarded as one of the most consistent goalscorers in the League of Ireland over the past decade, has signed a two-year contract at the BetMcLean Oval.

Hoban arrives at the BetMcLean Oval with an outstanding goalscoring pedigree, having netted over 200 senior career goals during spells with Mervue United, Dundalk, Oxford United, Mansfield Town and, most recently, Derry City.

Harry Murphy signs for Glenavon

Glentoran Football Club can confirm that defender Harry Murphy has completed a transfer to Glenavon Football Club for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old joined Glentoran from Portadown in 2022 and made 22 senior appearances during his time at The BetMcLean Oval.

He spent the second half of the 2024/25 season on loan at Glenavon, making 12 appearances for the Lurgan Blues.

A former captain of Glentoran Seconds, Murphy overcame a serious knee injury to return to first-team contention at Glentoran in October 2023.

Glentoran partners with Creative Commercial Interiors

Glentoran Football Club is delighted to announce a new multi-year partnership with Creative Commercial Interiors, who join the club as its Official Commercial Interiors Partner.

As part of the agreement, the Bangor-based design and build specialists have delivered a complete, bespoke fit-out of Glentoran’s newly refurbished executive office suite at The BetMcLean Oval which now serves as the club’s new operational hub.
