Glentoran Women returned to winning ways in emphatic fashion with a commanding 5-1 victory over Crusaders Strikers at Blanchflower Stadium.

Naomi McLaughlin scored twice, including her first goal for the Club, while Jessica Foy, Nadene Caldwell and Mia Moore were also on target for Kim Turner’s side.

The Glens made a flying start and broke the deadlock after only two minutes through Foy.

McLaughlin doubled the advantage four minutes later with a superb individual effort. Cutting inside from the left, the forward curled a fine strike from the edge of the penalty area into the far corner to open her Glentoran account.

The hosts remained two goals ahead at the interval before taking complete control with two further strikes in quick succession early in the second half.

Caldwell made it 3-0 in the 54th minute, finding the net with a spectacular effort from around 30 yards.

Just two minutes later, Moore added Glentoran’s fourth when she converted into an open goal following good work in the build-up.

Crusaders Strikers reduced the deficit through substitute Michelle McDaid in the 58th minute, but the Glens responded six minutes later.

McLaughlin claimed her second goal of the evening in the 64th minute, restoring the four-goal advantage and completing the scoring in an impressive 5-1 win.
