Glentoran FC wish to record their support for the DRUGS NOT WANTED IN EAST BELFAST initiative which was highlighted during a vigil at Skainos on Monday night.
Commenting after the event, Board member Bill Manson stated “The families associated with this initiative, all of the community groups, church leaders and politicians are to be commended for this stand. Those who spoke at the event brought home the hurt and grief being experienced by far too many in our community. At heart, Glentoran is both a family and a community club and it is therefore important for us to endorse this message”.
He went on to say “Most of our fan base is in East Belfast and our support for this initiative is for them as well as our senior teams and almost three hundred young people involved in our Academy. Our desire is to see young people grow and develop their lives as well as their talent. But this is not just about football and healthy lifestyles. Young lives are precious and we don’t want to see any further heartache visited on the people of East Belfast or indeed anywhere else in Northern Ireland”
