Glentoran manager Declan Devine has been named the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Association (NIFWA) Manager of the Month for February.

During the month, the Glens recorded three Premiership victories over Ballymena United, Cliftonville and Crusaders, along with a hard-earned draw away to Larne, while also progressing in the cup competitions with wins against Coleraine and Drumaness Mills.

Reacting to the award, Declan Devine, said: “I’m very grateful to the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Association for the recognition and it’s something I really appreciate personally. But the truth is awards like this come from the work of the whole group.

“The players have been outstanding and the staff behind the scenes put an incredible amount of work in every single day, so a lot of the credit for this belongs to them.

“We’ve got some massive games ahead with the league continuing to take shape and the BetMcLean Cup Final to look forward to. That’s where our focus has to be.

“There’s still a lot of football to be played so we need to stay focused, keep pushing and give everything we have to make this season as successful as possible.”

It is the fourth time Devine has received the prestigious monthly honour.
