Declan Devine has been named the Northern Ireland Football Writers’ Association (NIFWA) Manager of the Month for December.
The Glentoran Manager claims the award for the first time since taking charge at the BetMcLean Oval after guiding the Glens to an unbeaten December run.
Under Devine’s guidance, the Glens recorded impressive league victories over Crusaders, Cliftonville, and Portadown. The team also battled to a hard-fought Boxing Day draw against rivals Linfield and eliminated them from the BetMcLean Cup to cap off a strong month.
Devine said: "This is obviously testimony to the players and the backroom staff. The manager collects this award, but it's a team effort.
"We enjoyed a good month but it's hard work at times. We had to grind out some of those results. But overall, I feel we have come a long way since the summer.
"It feels like the entire club is pulling in the same direction. When everyone at Glentoran is pulling in the same direction, we've half a chance."
Declan receives his award from Michael Clarke, Chairman NI Football Writers Association
