Mon, 25/09/2017 - 21:56

The manager, players and directors of Glentoran were warmly welcomed on Saturday night to the Ballymac Glentoran Supporters Club Dinner at the Ballymac clubrooms.

Winners of the main awards were Curtis Allen (Player of the Year) and Tiarnan McAuley (Young Player of the Year).  Both players were presented with their awards by Thomas Sewell, Chairman of the Ballymac. Long standing Ballymac member Gary Cowan was presented with the annual Special Merit Award for his years’ service to both the Ballymac and his lifelong support of the Glens.

The club also welcomed as guests, seven members of the famous Detroit Cougars to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of their exploits and fittingly, the 50th anniversary this month of their historic European Cup clashes with Benfica. The Cougars were welcomed by Philip Stevenson of the Glentoran Supporters Committee (1923). Former player and double winning manager Tommy Jackson responded on behalf of his teammates.

All in all a great night in the true spirit of the Glentoran Family.
