Cup Final - Guidance for Supporters

Fri, 03/05/2013 - 08:10

The following guidance has been provided by the IFA & PSNI for those going to Windsor Park on Saturday 4th May.....

As a result of discussions with the Police Service of Northern Ireland the following advice is for Glentoran supporters attending the match.

All supporters will enter the ground via the turnstiles at the Railway End of the North Stand or adjacent turnstiles for the additional seating. Supporters will approach from Donegal Avenue and over the foot bridge from the Lisburn Road direction.

To minimise disruption to local residents we would encourage those travelling by coaches to drop off supporters adjacent to the Tesco Store on the Lisburn Road. Police will direct coaches to suitable parking locations nearby. We would urge supporters to follow these instructions and not cause any unnecessary obstructions. Vehicles with elderly or infirm passengers can be facilitated via Donegal Avenue but parking facilities are limited.

The PSNI will maintain a presence in the designated parking areas during the game.

Supporters are encouraged to arrive early for the game as a large attendance is anticipated.

Supporters are reminded the Justice (NI) Act 2011 applies to this event and behaviour in breach of the provisions of the legislation could lead to; removal from the ground, arrest and prosecution.

The offences are:

  • Throwing of articles capable of causing injury
  • Inappropriate chanting
  • Going on to the playing area
  • Possession of fireworks, flares etc
  • Possession of alcohol on vehicles travelling to the match.

We would ask for all supporters to co-operate with the policing and stewarding arrangements to ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all attending the match.

Please remember that kick off is 2.30pm and it is advisable to get to your seats early to avoid a last minute rush.
