Contract News: New Deal for Caolan

Sun, 13/06/2021 - 19:30

The latest of our first team squad to sign a contract extension is Caolan Marron, who will now be with the club until at least the end of the 2023-2024 season.

Caolan, who is still just 22, joined from Glenavon in January 2020 and is a former Ulster Young Player of the Year and Northern Ireland Under 21 international. Since joining the club he has been a consistent starter for the first team and has made 41 appearances at either right back or his preferred natural position of centre back. His defensive attributes, allied to a classy style on the ball have quickly made Caolan a firm favourite of the Glens support and a very popular figure around the Oval.

Caolan said today to www.Glentoran.com: “While it has been a good year for us this year as a new group of players, I think next year we should be pushing on to win more trophies and hopefully give the league a go! I’m delighted to have signed another deal, especially since most of the boys who played last season will still be there which should make us a really good team this year. I can’t wait for the European games so we can show everyone what where about, give it a really good go and see how far we can get.”

Mick McDermott: “Caolan has settled in right away at Glentoran and has shown through his performances the quality he has everything it takes to be an enormous success here for quite a few years. He is young and versatile; a natural footballer who can play numerous positions very comfortably.

We know Caolan has much more to give and in the coming months and the seasons ahead our fans will see how much quality he has.  I’m delighted to have him extend his stay at Glentoran”.
