A Century for Conor

Thu, 23/02/2023 - 10:51

Congratulations to Conor McMenamin on making his 100th first team appearance for Glentoran in last weekend’s away win at Ballymena.

Conor first joined the club from Linfield in the summer of 2015, joining Eddie Patterson’s Irish Cup winning squad as an out and out striker. Playing at centre forward in Curtis Allen’s absence he marked his debut with a wonder strike v MSK Zilnia Slovakia) in the Europa League Qualifier at the Oval. Conor made 23 appearances that season, scoring twice, before falling out of favour when Patterson was replaced as manager by Alan Kernaghan.

He returned to the club in January 2021 after spells with Warrenpoint Town and Cliftonville and from that point on it’s been all systems go as he established himself as a matchwinner both in the Glens team and now for Northern Ireland. In his second spell at the Bet McLean Oval, Conor has scored 40 goals in 77 appearances, averaging a just over goal every other game.

Congratulations Conor, and here’s to a few hundred more!
