Cameron Palmer’s outstanding consistency, leadership and influence across the campaign has seen him crowned the 2025/26 Glentoran Player of the Year.

The Glentoran Player of the Year award is voted for by the club’s supporters and organised by the Castlereagh Glentoran Supporters’ Club.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been a driving force at the heart of Declan Devine’s side this season, setting the standard with his composure in possession, relentless work rate and ability to deliver in key moments.

Palmer collected 71% of the vote, finishing ahead of Pat Hoban in second place with 20%, while MJ Kamson-Kamara secured third, as voted by the Glentoran supporters.

First awarded in 1958, the Glentoran Player of the Year trophy remains one of the most prestigious individual honours in the club’s proud history and Palmer’s selection underlines the impact he has made across the course of the season.

He has made 43 starts and one substitute appearance so far this season, contributing three goals, and has now surpassed a century of appearances for the club with 102 outings for the Glens, scoring four times.

Palmer’s impact across the campaign was further reflected in the club’s monthly awards, with the Rangers academy graduate named Glentoran Player of the Month, as voted for by supporters, on three occasions, collecting the accolade in November, January and March.

Cameron Palmer said: “It means a lot to be voted Player of the Year by the supporters. This has been a really good season for me personally, but more importantly, there’s still so much for us to play for as a team and we want to keep pushing right until the last game.

“We’ve got a really strong squad here and that competition for places keeps you on your toes every day in training. I feel like that’s brought the best out of me this season and it’s something I want to keep building on.

“I want to say a big thank you to the supporters, my teammates and all the staff for their backing throughout the season. The manager has shown a lot of trust in me as well and I’m grateful for that.”

“He’s a leader in every sense. The way he trains, the way he prepares and the way he performs on matchday sets the standard for everyone around him. He brings real control to our play, dictates the tempo of games and has a presence that players respond to.

“For a player to maintain that level across a full season speaks volumes about his character and professionalism, and we’re delighted to see him recognised with this award.”

Palmer will be officially presented with his award by representatives from the Castlereagh Glentoran Supporters’ Club at the club’s next home fixture.
