Glentoran Seconds recorded their second victory of the NIFL Premiership Development League season with a 4–1 win over Coleraine Reserves at the Coleraine Showgrounds.

Captain Reece Bell struck twice, with Cal Weatherup and Rory Magee also on target as the Glens claimed all three points from their third league fixture of the campaign.

James Dickson named a strong starting XI, with Weatherup, Charlie Lindsay, Daniel Larmour, Ciaran Rogers-Duffy and Jack Faloona among those gaining valuable minutes.

Recent signing Lekan Sule also made his first appearance following his return to Glentoran from Rosario. The 20-year-old winger started for the Seconds after being named among the first-team substitutes for last Friday night’s 2–0 victory over Ballymena United at the Showgrounds.

The Glens had opened their season with a 1–0 victory over Crusaders Reserves at Seaview before losing to Portadown Reserves last week.

Weatherup opened the scoring after being released by Faloona, holding off a defender before slipping his finish beyond the Coleraine goalkeeper.

The hosts responded through Luke McCourt, who found the net with an effort from around 25 yards to restore parity.

Glentoran regained the lead following good work from Lindsay. He found Magee on the edge of the penalty area and the forward turned before sending a left-footed strike into the bottom corner.

Bell came close to extending the advantage when his effort from 20 yards struck the crossbar. Weatherup met the rebound but sent his header over.

The Glens captain was not to be denied for long. A well-worked move involving several players ended with Bell meeting the ball on the half-volley at the edge of the area and finding the bottom corner to make it 3–1.

Bell completed the scoring following a short corner. Lindsay drove a low delivery towards the near post, where Bell arrived to steer a volley beyond the goalkeeper and into the bottom corner.

Coleraine enjoyed spells of possession, but the Glens made their opportunities count and defended their advantage to secure an important victory on the road.

The result leaves the Seconds with two wins from their opening three league fixtures as they continue the defence of their Development League title.
