Ballyclare Comrades 0-7 Glentoran Women

Fri, 16/09/2022 - 22:55

Holders Glentoran Women comfortably progressed into the semi-final of the Electric Ireland Women’s Challenge Cup this evening with a comprehensive victory at Dixon Park.

In a match dominated by Glentoran, the first half hour was a series of missed chances but finally on the 30th minute Jen McDade opened the scoring with a rasping drive from the edge of the box. This was followed 5 mins later by Kerry Beattie making it two and her international teammate Caragh Hamilton gave the Glens a 3-0 half time lead following a fast-paced dribble and shot in the 44th minute.

The second half was largely one way traffic. Firstly Joely Andrews scored with a twenty from 20-yard drive across the keeper. Kerry Beattie made it five from the spot for her second of the night and the final two goals secured braces for Hamilton and Andrews. Also Nina Morrison made her first team debut in the match, as a second half replacement for Caragh Hamilton.
