Back to business for Glens Academy Boys

Wed, 01/07/2020 - 01:58

With Executive Covid-19 restrictions partially eased, it was back to business on Tuesday for the Glens Academy Under 12s boys' team as they joined Stephen Lowry for a training session at the Hanwood Centre.

As their session drew to a close they were joined by three of our young first team players for a chat and a question and an impromptu answer session.

They couldn't have met with better men as Paul O'Neill (20) joined the Glentoran Academy as a 14-year old, made his first team debut at 17, and this season has scored 11 goals in 28 appearances for the first team, also making the breakthrough into the Northern Ireland U21 team this season. Mal Smith (19) joined the Academy at 10 years old when scouted by our current Academy Manager Stephen Lowry, made his first team debut at 18 and is seen as a great prospect for the club. Joe Crowe (22) spent four years at Norwich City as a young players and is a Northern Ireland U21 international.

All the best for next season boys. We know you will all do Glentoran proud.
