4 to go for Glens Women

Thu, 07/09/2023 - 00:20

With 4 games to go in the Sports Direct Women’s Premiership, leaders Glentoran Women entertain ninth placed Ballymena United Ladies at Ashfield on Friday night (8th September).

As Cliftonville are away on European duty this week, the Glens will be looking to stretch their lead at the top of the table to 9 points, albeit the Reds would still have 2 games in hand.

Glentoran took over sole leadership back in May after a comprehensive 9-0 victory over United at the Showgrounds . On that occasion the way was led by a Kerry Beattie hat trick with no fewer than 6 other scorers with a goal apiece – Emily Wilson, the now departed Caragh Hamilton, Sarah Tweedie, Chloe McCarron, Joely Andrews and Rachel McIntyre.

The Glens come into Friday night’s game off the back of a 5-0 away win over Lisburn Ladies last week, while United’s last game was a `12-4 home defeat to Derry City.

Head Coach Kim Turner reports no major injury worries for this one.

Kick Off at Ashfield is at 7.45pm.
