21st Programme of the Year win for Glentoran Gazette

Wed, 05/10/2022 - 20:26

We are delighted to announce that on Sunday, 2nd October the Northern Ireland Football Programme Collectors’ Club held their annual programme fair in the Pat Jennings Lounge at the National Stadium.

At this event, the NIFPCC present their Programme of the Year award but this time, because of the hiatus due to the Covid pandemic, were presenting two awards for 2019-20 and 2021-22. (There was no award for 2020-21 as few programmes were produced that season.)

The Glentoran Gazette was the winner of both awards, ahead of Larne in second and Linfield in third in both instances, and this means that the Gazette has been the winner of the award for an incredible 21 consecutive seasons.

Glentoran Gazette Joint Editors Norman Ternahan (left) and John Grayden (right) receive this year's award from David Hand, Chairman of the NIFPCC.

The Gazette is produced under the auspices of the Glentoran Supporters’ Committee (1923), Ireland’s oldest football supporters’ club, but is a real team effort with editors, writers, photographers, designers, programme sellers and printers all having crucial roles in the Gazette’s ongoing success.

Editors John Grayden and Norman Ternahan thanked the regular Gazette contributors Matthew Brown, Joe Burns, Ian Clarke, Roy Downes, Henry Muldrew,  Thomas McCartney, Brian McClelland, Eddy Patrick, Thomas Sewell, Beth Stafford and Philip Stevenson. Also the regular sellers - David Blanchflower, Jimmy Carter, Philip Stevenson and Ian Jamieson who stand at the Oval turnstiles week in and week out no matter what the weather, occasionally helped by Tim Graham.

A fantastic result for the Gazette team. And one they fully deserve.
