The Glentoran Elite Scholarship Programme Open Evening will take place on Wednesday 26th March 2025 at 6.30pm at Blanchflower Stadium.
Open to all Year 12 pupils – boys and girls – this event is a must-attend for those with a passion for football and ambitions to progress both on the pitch and in the classroom.
Delivered in partnership with Ashfield Boys’ High School, the full-time programme offers a unique dual pathway – combining elite-level football training with a BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport, equivalent to three A-levels.
Since launching in 2019, the programme has grown into one of Northern Ireland’s most respected player development and education pathways – providing a professional environment for learning and performance.
Students train in a professional football environment, with:
Daily sessions led by UEFA-qualified coaches
Access to state-of-the-art facilities, including recovery and strength & conditioning suites
Nutritional guidance, physiotherapy support and tailored fitness programmes
Competitive football fixtures
Away from the pitch, scholars pursue the BTEC National Extended Diploma in Sport – a widely respected qualification that opens doors to:
Higher education, including top UK universities such as Queen’s, Ulster, and Loughborough
Sport scholarships in the USA
Careers in coaching, physiotherapy, sports media, education and beyond
Past graduates have gone on to study Engineering, Creative Media and Sport Studies, while others are already making their mark in the local game.
