Bio
Colin Nixon stands as one of Glentoran’s greatest ever servants. From his debut at 17 he claimed the right back position with authority and rarely relinquished it over the next 18 years. Defensively dependable and a constant attacking outlet, he combined energy with composure and delivered key goals from set pieces and late runs into the box.
In total he made 794 appearances, scoring 88 goals and collecting four league titles, six Irish Cups, five League Cups, three Gold Cups and seven County Antrim Shields. He also represented Northern Ireland at Under 21 level and the Irish League representative team. Nixon led Glentoran to Irish Cup glory in 2000, lifting the trophy as captain while still only 21. He went on to record 26 European appearances, more than any other Glentoran player, and scored the club’s first away win in Europe against Allianssi in Finland.
Respected by supporters and teammates alike, Nixon’s professionalism and passion defined him. A leader, competitor and ever present, he epitomised what it means to wear the shirt with pride. His achievements and loyalty make him a natural inductee into the Glentoran Hall of Fame.
