Bio
Billy Caskey’s Glentoran career spanned almost two decades across three separate spells, each marked by quality, commitment and success. Signed from East Belfast in 1974, he broke into the first team as a skilful, energetic forward before evolving into a dynamic midfielder who would go on to define Glentoran’s spirit in the 1980s.
After a spell in the United States with Tulsa Roughnecks, Caskey returned to The Oval in 1984 to help the club lift the Irish Cup. His influence grew on his final return in 1986, where his aggression, leadership and technical ability made him indispensable during a period of sustained dominance. He was central to the Double-winning campaign of 1987–88, contributing experience and drive across all competitions.
In total, Caskey made 440 appearances and scored 110 goals, collecting 22 major honours including three league titles and four Irish Cups. His talent was recognised at international level with Northern Ireland, where he marked his debut with a goal against Bulgaria in 1979. Fiercely competitive and endlessly influential, Billy Caskey epitomised the blend of passion and ability that defines Glentoran’s greatest sides. A genuine club legend, his induction honours one of the finest all-round footballers in Irish League history.
