The Glentoran ‘Spirit of 41’ Committee in association with the Glentoran ‘Our Club, Our Community’ Programme hosted a hugely successful Glentoran Family Fun Day at the Oval on Sunday 28th August 2011.

The fun-filled event – funded by the International Fund for Ireland’s Community Bridges Programme – was attended by over 700 young people, parents and carers from the local community.

There was a wide range of activities available for all ages including Bouncy Castles, Gladiator Dual, Magic Show, Face-Painting, Balloon Modelling, Creepy-Crawley Show, Bungee Run, Sumo Wrestling, and a BBQ. The PSNI and Fire Brigade also brought along a selection of their emergency vehicles for young people to explore.

The Glentoran first team squad attended the event giving supporters the opportunity to get autographs and have their pictures taken with their favourite players. An array of historical Glentoran memorabilia was also on display including jerseys, match programmes, photographs and pennants.

The Glentoran Superstore launched the team’s new 2011-12 Kukri home and away playing kits giving supporters their first opportunity to purchase the new kits.

Simon Kitchen, Chairman of the Committee, said: “The Glentoran Family Fun Day proved to be huge success and helped extend the feel good factor around the football club following the team’s success over rivals Linfield.”

“We would like to thank all Glentoran supporters and the local community for attending the event, along with staff and volunteers who helped make the fun day a successful and enjoyable day for everyone.”

All proceeds raised at the Glentoran Family Fun Day will go to supporting the Glentoran ‘Spirit of 41’ Committee and their fundraising efforts on behalf of Glentoran Football Club.
