The
Glentoran Under 15
produced a below power performance but still managed to salvage a point from a
very spirited Hawthorne team.
The
wee Glens started well and took the lead when Gareth McGrattan scored following a goalmouth scramble. At this
stage the wee Glens were in control of the match but wasted a number of chances
to increase their lead.
The second half started badly
for Glentoran with Hawthorne scoring two goals, to put them in front.
Following this the Wee Glens
pushed forward in search of an equaliser. This pressure eventually resulted in a
Hawthorne player handling the ball in the box.
Captain Conor
McGrattan stepped up to convert the penalty to bring the sides level.
Despite further pressure from
Glentoran the hard working Hawthorne defence held firm and the game finished
2-2.
Man of the match for
Glentoran was the hard working Thomas
Floyd.
