The
Glentoran Under 15s produced their best performance of the season to
date to beat a previously unbeaten Barn United by 3 goals to 2 in a very
competitive game.
The “Wee Glens”
attacked from the start and soon had their rewards when
Darrian Shaw was once again in the right place at the right time to
score. Not satisfied with this the Glens continued to press forward and
a second goal from Lewis Adair soon followed. Other chances were
created but a series of outstanding saves by the Barn United keeper kept
the score at 2 - 0.
At this stage
the Glens appeared to relax and in no time at all Barn had scored twice
to leave the score 2-2 at half time.
As
the second half started the “Wee Glens” again raised their game
and following some tenacious
play by Gareth McGrattan, he
produced a finish to match to give the Glens the lead.
Towards the end Barn
pushed forward in search of an equaliser but the Glens defence, well
marshalled by Colin Smith and Scott Kane,
held strong to see the team safely home.
This was an excellent
all round performance by the team and similar performances will be
required in the weeks to come.
