Glentoran U15
2 - 2 Red Star
Saturday
15th December
The Glens started well and were soon a goal up thanks to an excellent
finish by Luke
Wilson, from a very tight angle. The rest of the half was spent pushing
forward looking for further goals however a combination of missed
opportunities and good work by the Redstar keeper meant that at half time
the score was 1-0.
The second half could not have started
worse for Glentoran who were caught with a sucker punch by Redstar and the
scores were level at 1-1.
The pattern was then set for the second
half with Glentoran pushing forward once again in search of a goal and the
strong Redstar defence holding strong.
It took an excellent finish from Kyle Cherry, midway through the second half to once again
give Glentoran the lead 2-1.
However in the very last minute of the
game Glentoran were once again caught on the counter attack and an
unfortunate Glentoran own goal left the score all square at the final
whistle 2-2.
This was ultimately to prove to be a
disappointing result and a below par performance from the team who were
playing their first match in three weeks.
Man
of the Match.
Given the all round performance and well
taken goal Kyle Cherry was named Man of the Match
