This was a game of
few chances against a strong Carryduff team.
The game started out
as a midfield battle with both teams working hard to try and gain the
upper hand.
The breakthrough came
midway through the first half. The Glens were awarded a free kick on the
left hand corner of the box. Colin
Smith stepped up and produced an unstoppable shot to give the
Carryduff no chance.
The Glens continued
to press forward and were soon awarded another free kick, this time on
the right hand side of the box.
This time Craig
Spiers stepped forward to take it and the outcome was the same,
an excellent strike which again gave the keeper no chance and left the
wee Glens two goals to the good at half time.
The second half
started with Carryduff pushing forward to try and get back into the game
but the hard working Glens defence of Chris
Maginnes, Lee Carser, Colin Smith and Conor McGrattan held firm.
A number of
substitutes were introduced and two of them were to combine well to
produce the third and decisive goal with Scott
McDowell creating the goal for Kyle
Armstrong.
Man
of the Match.
For leading the team by example in terms of his overall work rate as
well as producing a number of important tackles Conor McGrattan was named as man of the match.
