This was very much
the proverbial “game of two halves” with the wee Glens ultimately
coming to grips with a spirited, hard working Carrick team.
The first half
started well and the Glens soon were in front with
Colin Smith scoring an excellent free kick. The lead was
not; however, to last for long as a mix up in defence gifted Carrick an
equaliser.
The Glens continued
to press forward but a number of chances were missed and the score at
half time was 1-1.
A very different
Glentoran started the second half and they were soon in front again when
Gareth McGrattan
scored to make it 2-1.
This goal settled the
Glens down and they started to play much better football and they were
soon 3 up with Lewis Adair finishing of an excellent passing move.
Further goals followed from Colin Smith and Scott
Kane and the victory was completed by Paddy Davidson scoring his first for the club with an
excellent finish from the edge of the box.
