Glentoran U12
1 - 7 Linfield U12

Saturday 17th November

The team worked really hard during training and had done really well in the previous match securing the points with a fine display. Several changes were made however to the starting line up for the encounter with Linfield. Ross Wilson was given a start because he played so well the week before and the management felt it was only fair to start those who didn’t start against Linfield in the first encounter. Others included Andrew Mellon, Jamie Tharma and Mathew Dunn.

To be honest the score didn’t reflect how well we played. After 25 minutes it was still 0-0 and we were playing against the wind. We made three individual mistakes which cruelly punished us but at half time we still felt we could grab something from the game.

The second half saw us make 5 changes and go for a more attacking formation. We did score and should have got more but as the players tired we also conceded more.

I think that the players for the first time showed real spirit and for the first twenty five minutes were purely outstanding. I can honestly say that I was truly proud to be the manager of those players who took to the field that day. I know that if we play like that the rest of the season, there is no reason why we shouldn’t end up in the top 2 spots!

Man of the Match: Ross Wilson (the best game he’s ever played in a green shirt!)
