Glentoran U12 3 - 5 Ridgeway
Rovers
Saturday
15th September
The first game of the
campaign saw us take on Ridgeway rovers who moved over from the north down
league the previous season after only conceding 12 goals and scoring over
150 goals on their way to win the league title.
This was a truly
outstanding match not only to play in, coach but to watch as a football
fan. The match was played from end to end with each team displaying at the
highest level both attackingly and defensively.
On three occasions we
took the lead and on three occasions they equalised. In the final 5
minutes with the score at 3-3 we again pilled on the pressure trying to
get the winner and conceded two late goals. Our players had simply run out
of steam.
Anyone on that pitch
deserved a man of the match award but Thomas Templeton was simply
brilliant at the back not only controlling our shape but making some class
tackles to match.
Final note.
As I said walking off
the pitch to their manager football was the real winner out on the pitch
today and no matter what the result was anyone watching the game would
agree that our players were simply magnificent to watch. A special mention
for the players of Ridgeway is also needed as they were very well behaved
and played a cracking match. To our boys - Well Done Lads!
