Glentoran U12 4 - 1 Carryduff
Saturday
6th October

Having started the season playing so well yet failing to pick up the maximum points Glentoran arrived at King George slightly unnerved even though we had already beaten carry duff during our preseason campaign.

We kicked off the match and defensively struggled to cope with the oppositions attacking play. We did create lots of chances but went into the break a goal down along with most of the player’s heads. It was a disappointing half as we failed to control and dictate the pace of the game, while several players were continually in the wrong position. On a positive note Sam Johnston was excellent as usual between the sticks.

Half time saw us make changes at the back moving Craig Briers to centre half while also bringing on Mathew Dunn at centre midfield and Jamie Tharma on up Front along with Richard Annett.

The impact was almost instant with the defence suddenly looking calm and structured. Mathew Dunn created chance after chance with his intelligent passing and linked up well With Andrew Mellon and Glen Cleland on several occasions. Sam Knox also settled into the role of sitting in front of the back four dictating our patterns of play and scoring a cracking goal into the bargain. Wave after wave of attacks saw us grind Carryduffs defence and it was through this we run out 4-1 winners.

Jamie Tharma requires a special mention because it was through his movement, passing and deadly finishing that we won this game. He was clearly the best player on the park and thoroughly deserves being man of the match.

Final note.

To be honest we were very poor in the first half and Carryduff took their goal well and deserved to lead at half time. The second half however was on of the best displays our players have ever put on and I'm sure that if we continue on this form we have a great chance of winning the league.
