Glentoran 1-0 Linfield

Glentoran seized the opportunity to return to the top pf the Danske Bank Premiership in tonight's game, billed as the biggest Big Two game in a decade tonight. A second half Conor McMenamin goal after great work from Jay Donnelly gave the Glens a 1-0 win at the Bet McLean Oval this evening.

The Glens starting line-up had just one change from Tuesday night’s draw at Portadown, as skipper Marcus Kane, a decade long veteran of Big Two matches, was included. Patrick McClean held his place at centre back with his red card at Shamrock Park under appeal.

Its first v second in the Danske Bank Premiership tomorrow night as we welcome Linfield in what’s being billed as the most important “Big Two” match in well over a decade.

Since the sides drew 1-1 at The National Stadium in the Boxing Day fixture, Linfield have been on a mixed run of form.

Belfast City Council have been liaising closely with our Security Officer, ahead of tomorrow evening's match with Linfield at the Bet McLean Oval.

This is a reminder that both home and visiting supporters may be searched as a condition of entering the stadium, and that anyone found in possession of any prohibited item may be prevented from entering the stadium and reported to the police.

An injury time equaliser denied 10-man Glentoran the win at Shamrock Park this evening in the Danske Bank Premiership.

Bobby Burns, Hrvoje Plum, Conor McMenamin and Jay Donnelly were all back in the starting line up for the Glens whilst, following Saturday's Irish Cup win, Marcus Kane, Shay McCartan and Michael O'Connor were on the bench.

New manager Paul Doolin has suffered defeat in his first three games in charge; with league losses at home to Crusaders and away to Larne prior to Saturday’s Irish Cup exit at Coleraine.

Please note that all tickets for Glentoran supporters in the Main stand and Sydenham End terrace have been sold out for Friday night's match with Linfield at the Bet McLean Oval.

Supporters must be aware that any tickets purchased for the Railway Stand or City End terrace will be among Linfield supporters. No one with a ticket for away areas of the stadium will be allowed to transfer to a Glentoran area as this would be in breach of the club's safety certificate.

 

Queens University 0-4 Glentoran

It was a comfortable win for the Glens in today's Samuel Gelston's Whiskey Irish Cup tie at The Dub. 3 goals, one from Michael O'Connor and two from Robbie McDaid, in 8 first half minutes virtually sealed the game. Shay McCartan added a fourth 10 minutes from time and it could have been even more emphatic but for the woodwork coming to the rescue of Queens University on 4 other occasions.
