Take 5

In February 2014 Glentoran FC facilitated a number of East Belfast Community Organisations (East Belfast Community Development Agency (EBCDA), Inner East Youth Project, Walkway Community Association and Street by Street) in their campaign to raise ‘Suicide Awareness’.  Information leaflets were handed out to match goers before kick-off in our game against Linfield containing information on looking after your emotional health and contact details of services who can support people in East Belfast.

Last Saturday the club continued our commitment to the local community by assisting with the promotion of the Belfast Strategic Partnership's Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Thematic Group’s ‘Take 5’ campaign. Club Chairman, Stephen Henderson and director, John Moore joined Glentoran players and volunteers as they handed out leaflets prior to our game against Crusaders.

Most of us know when we are feeling mentally and physically well, but sometimes we need a little extra support to keep well.

There are five simple steps we can all take to improve our Emotional Wellbeing:

·       • Connect

·       • Be Active

·       • Take Notice

·       • Keep Learning

·       • Give

The Belfast Strategic Partnership's Mental Health and Emotional Wellbeing Thematic Group have launched a ‘Take 5’ campaign, which aims to raise awareness of the importance of Emotional Wellbeing and what we can all do as individuals, communities and as a city to promote wellbeing and reduce health inequalities in Belfast.
