Everyone at Glentoran is saddened to hear of the passing of our player from the fifties and sixties, Matt Crothers.
Matt, a left back who played through the Glentoran Thirds and Seconds, made his first team debut in the 1957/58 season. He made 163 appearances in his six seasons as a squad member and was voted Glentoran Player of the Year for 1961/62.
Matt captained Glentoran on quite a few occasions and was regularly selected to represent the Irish League XI on many occasions. Glentoran was a huge part of his life. Sadly Matt passed away in the early hours of 31st January, aged 84.
