Glentoran face Carrick Rangers at the Oval on match day 3 of the 2016-17 Danske Bank Premiership and will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing result on Wednesday night at Solitude.

Chris Lavery sits out the final game of his 3-match suspension tomorrow and Jay Magee is still unavailable due to holidays. Marcus Kane is a doubt after picking up a knock in the first half against Cliftonville. If he fails to make it then James Ferrin could replace him. Ferrin made his competitive debut for Glentoran at Solitude and put in an excellent second half performance. Manager, Alan Kernaghan is hoping to have Stephen O'Flynn back in the squad; the big striker having to sit out Wednesday night's defeat due to injury.

The Glens and Carrick Rangers played out a scoreless draw at Seaview as part of both clubs' pre season. Last year the sides met on four occasions, three in the Danske Bank Premiership and once in the League Cup. Glentoran were undefeated in the four games, winning three and drawing one.

The first league encounter, which took place in the same August weekend last year, ended in a 1-1 draw with a glorious goal from Marcus Kane bringing the sides level at Taylor's Avenue. There were two meetings within three days in mid-October. Steven Gordon netted twice and Curtis Allen once as the Glens triumphed 3-1 in the League Cup at the Oval and the following Saturday, again at the East Belfast venue, it was Stephen McAlorum and Conor McMenamin on target in a 2-0 home win. The final meeting saw Glentoran record a 2-1 away win thanks to two goals from Curtis Allen.

Tomorrow's fixture will have a strange feeling for a few players. Steven McCullough (above), once of Glentoran, lines up for Carrick Rangers whilst both Aaron Smyth and Aaron Harmon were Carrick players last season.
