Match Preview

Glentoran face Portadown at the Oval in the Danske Bank Premiership this weekend.

The two sides have met three times already in the Premiership this season. In the first game, played at the Oval in September 2014, David Scullion gave the Glens an early lead before Darren Murray levelled things up from the spot before the interval. (You can watch the highlights from that Oval fixture again on BBC Sport NI HERE ). The most recent meeting was also a 1-all draw with Jordan Stewart getting an equaliser for Glentoran in the second half in a match spoiled by the weather conditions. In between those fixtures Portadown recorded a 3-1 victory at Shamrock Park in late November. This game was also level at 1-1 until late in the game when Glentoran's Calum Birney was sent off and the home side netted two late goals.

Many will be billing this game as a dress rehersal for the Irish Cup final on 2nd May but both sides are likely to have one eye on that fixture and may not wish to field their strongest starting line ups. Stephen McAlorum, who sat out the last tow games due to suspension should return to the squad however leading goal scorer, Curtis Allen has to sit this one out.

Tomorrow at the Glentoran Superstore you can pick up Irish Cup final merchandise and at 1pm in the McLean's Suite we will also have the launch of Philip Stevenson's book on John Colrain.

Castlereagh GSC will also be handing out their 'Player of the Year 2014-15' voting slips. Who will it be this year? You decide.
