Linfield v Glentoran

Tue, 22/04/2014 - 10:30

Just two rounds of games remain in the 2013-14 Danske Bank Premiership with the destiny of the title still not confirmed. Whilst leaders Cliftonville travel to Portadown, second placed Linfield host Glentoran in the final 'Big Two' meeting of the campaign.

This will be the fifth meeting of the clubs this season with the Glens yet to register a victory. On the final day of August, again at Windsor Park, the game ended scoreless. There was another 0-0 draw at the Oval in the League Cup with the Blues eventually winning on penalties. The two Danske Bank Premiership games played at the Oval both ended in single goal victories for the visitors, 2-1 on Boxing Day and 1-0 in late February.

Curtis Allen's sending off in the 3-nil win over Crusaders means he misses this game but Johnny Addis returns to the squad following his one game ban. The Glens still have a number of key players missing through injury; Howland, Kane, Magee & Birney so it will be a relatively inexperienced side which will face Linfield today. The Blues need to win. Anything else will probably see Cliftonville retain their title. Can Glentoran record their first victory of the season against their biggest rivals?

Kick-off for today's game is 2:35pm.

Glentoran supporters will be in the upper deck of the North Stand as usual and should enter the ground via Boucher Road.
