Jackie Banford

It is with deep regret that the Club has learnt of the passing of Glentoran Seconds stalwart Jackie Banford.  Jackie was the right back in the hugely successful Seconds team during the John Colrain era, winning back to back George Wilson and Steel and Sons Cup doubles in the 1965/66 and 1966/67 seasons.  He also made three first team appearances between 1967 and 1969.  Jackie was a lifelong friend of Tommy Jackson and worked as his assistant during his time as manager of Ballymena United.

One of life's gentlemen, Jackie leaves behind wife Alison and children Nicky, Jill, John and Cameron.  The condolences of everyone at Glentoran go to the whole family circle at this sad time.
