You may have noticed that the Irish Cup has been out and about over the weekend and will be again over the next few weeks. Yesterday it made a trip to The Streat, Ballyhackamore and then today visited more of our sponsors around East Belfast. It will also be making an appearance in Todd Insurance, Bloomfield Avenue on Thursday, at Spar, Comber Road Dundonald on Saturday afternoon and Little Lily's Bistro on the Castlereagh Road on Saturday evening.
The Cup has also been acting as inspiration for our Academy teams playing in huge Irish Cup games of their own this past week. The Cup was the special guest for breakfast for the U14 and U15 teams at Park Avenue Hotel before their NIBFA Cup Finals on Monday. It also made an appearance at Glentoran Colts Irish cup semi final against Lisburn distillery at Clandeboye Road on Thursday. All three teams took inspiration and won!
It also made a quick stop at the Ulster Hospital to see a couple of sick Glentoran fans and it perked them up when they saw the Cup sitting at the end of their hospital bed.
Well, it's got us thinking, there may be more Glentoran fans in hospital that we don't know about and a visit from the Irish Cup might just be what the doctor ordered! So, if you or your loved ones are in the Ulster Hospital, please let us know by emailing us at commercial@glentoran.com and we will do our best to accommodate everyone. We plan to make a visit on Wednesday evening and Irish Cup winner Calum Birney has offered to come along too.
Obviously time is very limited for visiting hours at the hospital, so only a quick visit will be organised, as we want to fit in as many people as possible.
