Good luck Northern Ireland Women

Mon, 30/11/2020 - 22:26

Everyone at Glentoran sends their best wishes to the Northern Ireland squad who face the Faroe Islands at Seaview tomorrow evening in their final qualifier for the 2022 Women’s Euros. Victory in this one will see Northern Ireland secure a first-ever play-off spot and a shot at making the rescheduled finals in 2022.

Glentoran midfielder Nadene Caldwell was in the starting line up for last Friday’s 3-2 home win over Belarus and was joined in midfield in the second half by her Glens teammate. Also in the squad from Glentoran are goalkeeper Jacqueline Burns (suspended for the Belarus game) and young forwards Joely Andrews, Kerry Beattie and Danielle Maxwell. Also in the lineup was our former player Lauren Wade (now with Glasgow City).

On a sadder note, we also send very best wishes to our former star player Demi Vance (now with Rangers) who faces a long layoff after sustaining an ACL injury at Seaview in the Belarus tie.

Good luck Northern Ireland and the Glentoran Six!
