Sun, 23/04/2017 - 12:25

Glentoran U13s won the inaugural Glentoran Academy Decathlon Cup this week with three super performances in what turned out to be a brilliant day of football.

This event showcased some terrific talent across the 2003, 2004 and 2005 age groups with four excellent teams entertaining the watching spectators.

The club and the Glentoran Academy would like to say a huge thank you to Subway Ormeau Road for kindly providing food and drinks for the players and coaches and to our primary event sponsor Decathlon for providing the trophy and medals and the Man of the Match Awards.

The Man of the Match winners were:

Callum Marshall (Glentoran)
Charlie Lindsay (Glentoran)
Jake Wallace (Glentoran)
Dale Taylor (Swansea City)
Robbie Morrow (Swansea City)
Kyle Watson (Isle of Man)

The final standings saw Glentoran top the round robin group and secure the trophy after wins over Swansea and NIBFA National League at Blanchflower before winning their final game at The Oval against the Isle of Man.

Swansea City finished in second place with the Isle of Man and NIBFA National League Select scooping the bronze medals.

Finally a huge thank you to the players and coaches of the four competing teams for a fantastic event and to Andrew McCrory and Brendan from the NIBFA for refereeing the games!
