Glentoran 1 - 0 Ards

Tue, 05/08/2014 - 22:32

Jason Hill's testimonial game ended in a narrow Glentoran victory thanks to Kym Nelson's second half goal.  Jason was given a guard of honour by both teams before he took up his usual left back role in the familiar number 15 shirt.  There was little to employ Elliott Morris in the Glentoran goal in a first half where the Glens squandered a number of chances to take the lead.

The breakthrough eventually came six minutes after the interval when Kym Nelson burst through to capitalise on a defensive error and finish neatly off a post.  Both teams made a plethora of substitutions and there was good news for the home fans as David Howland and Marcus Kane came on to continue their comebacks from long term injuries.  Jason Hill himself left the field midway through the second half to a fitting ovation from fans and players alike.
