GCT to assist with arbitration costs

Sun, 21/12/2014 - 15:15

Yesterday before our game against Cliftonville at the Oval the Chairman of the GCT Jim Welsh approached the club Chairman Stephen Henderson to make a substantial offer of money to help the Club fight the arbitration hearing that is currently underway in relation to the Gary Hamilton eligibity issue.  The GCT have offered up to £6,000 to the Club to assist them with this matter.

GCT Chairman Jim Welsh said, “We here at Glentoran Community Trust are delighted that the club have decided to proceed with the arbitration, failure to pursue this due to financial constraints, would not only raise major concerns as to the credibility of Glentoran Football Club, but also serve as a total capitulation in the face of inconceivable arrogance and injustice.  The Trust is more than happy to assist the Club financially in this matter.”

Stephen Henderson said in response to this offer, “This offer of financial assistance from GCT is a massive help to Glentoran Football Club as funding the arbitration hearing was obviously never in our financial plans for 2014/15.  Ultimately through this process, all the club wish to see achieved is the application of the FIFA disciplinary code and to ensure the integrity of our game is maintained. This help from the GCT is hugely appreciated by the Board of Glentoran Football Club and comes on top of other substantial donations earlier in the season for the singings of Kym Nelson and Barry Holland, their continued support is massively important to the Club.”
