Glentoran FC is delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Haveron as team manager with immediate effect.  Gary will have responsibility for playing matters at all levels throughout the club.

Gary’s previous management role was at Carrick Rangers where in 2014/15 season he led Carrick to a trophy treble when Carrick won the NIFL Championship, Steel & Sons Cup and Intermediate Cup. He successfully led Carrick to retain their place in the NIFL Premiership in 2015/16 before resigning at the end of the season.

Gary started his career as a player at Wolverhampton Wanderers where he came through the youth ranks with Robbie Keane. Following Wolves, Gary had 3 years at Bolton Wanderers and a year at Yeovil Town before returning to Northern Ireland.

Gary’s Irish League playing career started in 2002 with Lisburn Distillery under Paul Kirk. He then joined Coleraine where Marty Quinn signed him to partner Gareth McAuley. In his 2 years at Coleraine he played against Glentoran in the Irish Cup Final in 2004. Gary’s longest playing spell was 7 years at Ballymena United where he was signed by Tommy Wright and played under Roy Walker. Gary was captain at Ballymena. He ended his career at Carrick Rangers under Michael Hughes before succeeding Hughes as manager.

Gary’s backroom staff will include Steven Mills who was with him throughout his time at Carrick Rangers. Gary and Steven have worked together since youth football. He will be announcing further appointments to his coaching team in the next few days.

Gary will lead the team for the first time in our home Danske Premiership with Linfield this Saturday.

We are sure everyone involved with Glentoran and all our supporters will wish Gary all the very best and every success with our club.
