Cricky voted December's top man

Sat, 02/01/2021 - 00:13

Glentoran FC is very pleased to announce that the winner of the supporters’ vote as December Glentoran Player of the Month is Cricky Gallagher.

In a month of mixed fortunes for the Glens, midfielder Cricky played in all five of our matches and has started fifteen of our sixteen matches so far this season. Having joined the club in September 2018 as Ronnie McFall’s last Glentoran signing, Cricky has established himself as a key squad member with 76 appearances under his belt,

Cricky just beat the November winner Jay Donnelly to the award with 24% of the overall supporters’ vote. Last month’s runner up Caolan Marron and skipper Marcus Kane also polled strongly.

On being told of his award on Friday afternoon, 21-year-old Cricky said to www.glentoran.com : “I’m absolutely delighted to receive player of the month for December. It’s always a pleasure to be on the pitch to try help the team in any way I can, and this is some recognition for that. It’s been a tough start this season so hopefully we can push on in the New Year with the great group of lads we have here!

A big thank you to the fans that voted for me and the sooner we can get everyone back to the Oval the better. I hope everyone had a great Christmas and a Happy New Year!”

Mick McDermott: “Cricky has been a consistent performer for a long period for Glentoran. He provides the clearest possible proof that if you put in the work, remain humble and play for the shirt, then success follows”.

Marcus Kane’s late equaliser in our last game, away to Ballymena United, was the clear winner in the supporters vote for December Glentoran Goal of the Month.

Well done Cricky and Moko.
